Why did I build www.shopsforsale.co.nz?

Over the last 2 years of COVID I have watched shop owners work extremely long hours and struggle with rules, regulations and lockdowns. For some it has been truly traumatic. 

Many would now rather sell their businesses than carry on under the stressful climate we live in.

For others it’s a golden opportunity to full fill dreams and become their own boss. To create and develop successful business enterprises.

When it comes to selling a business, that’s not easy either and most of all, can it be done affordably?

What are the choices?

Hire a real estate agent and pay a large retainer, marketing fees and then a commission of 2% or 3% of the total sale. As businesses are not selling for the high prices of a few years ago, all these costs may result in just getting the original price of the business back and trust me, shop owners deserve more than this.

The next most popular choice is to advertise for, I think about $300 to $500 on trademe or some other business sites. 

When I look at the listing dates on many ads they have been there for a considerable period of time. 

Why?

It could be the price, lack of interest, location. Could be anything. Often I  believe it is the presentation of the ads and the information that is displayed.

Which brings me back to www.shopsforsale.co.nz.

I wanted to create a site that specialised in retail shops, presented the right information, and looked good. I wanted a site that in time everyone that wanted to by a food related business in New Zealand would go to.

BUT most of all I wanted to create a site that could assist hard working shop owners sell their business and not give away a large chunk of the sale price to someone else. It just doesn’t seem fair at all. I want you to keep your money.

The way this site works is by subscription. You spend $10 plus gst per week and pay weekly. If you make a sale, then you stop paying immediately. If you don’t get results after what you feel is a reasonable period of time, then you stop paying. If you want you can just pay $100 plus gst and your ad will stay until you take it down or when your business is sold.

Marketing.

Everyday we will be putting ads of new listings on Facebook and Instagram and Linkedin. So you will not just be advertising on the site. We will be actively marketing your business to over 4000 individuals and businesses. 

So many retail shops sell to families of other  shop owners, many buy a 2nd business and we have a great database of these people to help market your business to
